or then what of my life as Micky’s wife and then widow?
I suppose the key about this is to tell you a little about me in a way that makes you feel as if you know me so I am going for the more personable approach. I am a born and bred South African, I love living in this country and I enjoy the sunshine and the beauty of the nature around me. I spent my childhood in Welkom in the Free State and even though I am fully bilingual, my voice has no hint of a South African accent as I made a conscious decision to change the way I spoke at age 7. My high school career was completed in Namibia when it was still called South West Africa and it was here that I started exploring my great love for animals and the great outdoors as I raised a karakul sheep, a gemsbok and a few other small animals too. After matriculating we returned to the Republic of SA and my journey led me to Gauteng where I presently reside. I was married young at age 21 and widowed at 32 after a horrific car accident which killed my husband instantly and very nearly myself. This was one of my defining moments as I died in the coma on the 7th day and only returned to life on the 10th day to fulfil what I saw as the better part of my destiny. My two children were also horribly injured in the car but fortunately none of us have any side affects left from that time though we will always love and remember their dad for the man he was in our lives.
To be honest, this is a précis of my life but the fullness of my story is in my autobiography “From Tragedy to Triumph”. I merely want to give some insight into the person I am and the woman I became when I realized the fullness of my soul’s quest and journey. It was difficult coming back from my accident and facing the world as I had never seen it before though this journey has led me to grow in the awakening and acceptance and subsequent development of my gifts. |
